Pep Guardiola provides an update on Erling Haaland’s injury status.
Erling Haaland was absent from Manchester City’s Sunday match against Luton Town, prompting Pep Guardiola to reveal the extent of his injury.
Luton Town, a team fighting relegation, took the lead with Elijah Adebayo’s header, raising the prospect of an upset against the three-time champions.
However, Manchester City mounted a comeback in the second half, securing victory through goals from Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva.
In Haaland’s absence, City seemed less threatening in front of the goal, attributed to his injury. Guardiola omitted him from the squad due to an injury, and after the game, he elaborated on the issue.
“It’s stress on the bone. Tension. Just stress,” reported the Manchester Evening News.
He cautioned against speculation about a broken foot, clarifying that it’s only a stress-related bone issue.
“I don’t anticipate him being ready for Crystal Palace; he wasn’t fit for this game. I’m hopeful he’ll be available for the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia. His progress will be assessed on a week-by-week basis.”
