Napoli forward Victor Osimhen remains a prominent target for Arsenal ahead of the January transfer window. The Nigerian striker has consistently been mentioned as a potential option for Mikel Arteta’s team, which lacks a center-forward as prolific as the 24-year-old.
Despite having Leandro Trossard, Eddie Nketiah, and Gabriel Jesus as forward choices, none of them has surpassed 14 league goals in a single season. In contrast, Osimhen scored 26 times in Serie A last season, contributing significantly to Napoli’s first league title win since 1990.
Recently, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the situation of the former Lille striker, acknowledging that both Arsenal and their London rivals Chelsea are observing potential striker signings. In an interview with Caught Offside, Romano mentioned, “There have been reports linking Victor Osimhen to Arsenal, and this follows earlier discussions held by the Napoli striker’s agent with the Gunners about a year ago.”
He added, “We’re aware that Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring strikers for 2024, so it’s natural to see these associations. However, it’s challenging to consider these links for January because Napoli is adamant about not selling him in the middle of the season. Anything could happen in the summer, but it’s not decided yet.”
A transfer for Osimhen is likely to involve a significant fee should it materialize.
