Manchester City is currently aware of discussions regarding a potential signing of Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich. The club acknowledges the challenges associated with securing the Germany international this summer, with a hint of caution regarding the likelihood of a deal.
Despite the perceived difficulties, Txiki Begiristain is actively exploring options to finalize the signing as part of Manchester City’s effort to replace Kalvin Phillips.
It’s noted that Kimmich will have only 12 months remaining on his contract with Bayern Munich at the end of the season, potentially lowering his value to around £25 million, as reported by the Daily Star. The 28-year-old is reportedly keen on reuniting with Pep Guardiola, with whom he previously worked at Bayern Munich.
In the current season, Kimmich has made 23 appearances across all competitions for Bayern Munich, contributing with one goal and six assists. His desire to work with Guardiola again was expressed in 2019, stating his gratitude for the opportunities provided by the coach. Kimmich had a successful stint under Guardiola, winning the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.
The hope is that Kimmich and Guardiola can reconnect at Manchester City in the upcoming summer transfer window.
