Jack Grealish expressed strong dissatisfaction with Pep Guardiola’s repeated decision to leave him out of the team for Manchester City’s Monday night match against Brentford.
Manchester City aims to narrow the gap to Liverpool to just two points by continuing their winning streak in Premier League action, which commenced following their FIFA Club World Cup triumph.
Despite Brentford defeating Manchester City twice last season, Guardiola’s side could potentially top the Premier League standings by securing victories against Brentford and Everton in the upcoming week.
On Monday night, the Sky Blues, led by Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, will attempt to extend their unbeaten run to 12 games. This will mark Haaland’s first start since December, while De Bruyne will only be making his third Premier League start this year.
Guardiola made several changes to the team that defeated Burnley 3-1, including starting Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez, and Bernardo Silva. However, Jack Grealish reportedly expressed discontent over being benched for the fourth consecutive game, causing tension within the first-team squad.
According to reports from MCFCTone on X, Grealish was visibly unhappy about being among the substitutes for the Brentford match and left the club’s training session early. Despite starting 18 times for Manchester City this season, Grealish has also been used as a substitute on five occasions.
