Granada manager Alexander Medina has evaluated Manchester United loanee Facundo Pellistri’s performance following his impressive showing against Barcelona.
Pellistri, 22, joined the Spanish side on loan last month and made a promising debut against Las Palmas last weekend, particularly noteworthy as his team played most of the match with 10 men.
However, Pellistri’s impact in his second start against Barcelona proved even more significant, as the winger scored a well-taken goal following a brilliant assist from a cutback cross.
Granada managed to secure a point from the La Liga encounter, which ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw, with Pellistri’s goal and assist proving crucial.
Despite Erik ten Hag’s struggles on the right wing at Manchester United, the wide player started only three games for the club in the first half of the season.
Medina has commended the young Uruguayan for his performances and quick adaptation to the club, though he hinted that Pellistri was somewhat neglected during his time at Old Trafford.
“Facundo’s contribution is significant,” Medina stated to reporters after the Barcelona game, as quoted by futbolfantasy. “When I spoke with Facundo about bringing him to Granada, I presented my proposal to him regarding my thoughts on him and what I expected from him.
And already in his second game, he was showcasing the quality and hierarchy he possesses. The other day, he had an outstanding performance, playing with one less player from the 18th minute onwards, and we had a great game overall, with him playing very well.”
“I am highly satisfied. His signing has brought me great joy, and his loan will provide him with the opportunity to gain consistency, accumulate minutes, and display his footballing abilities. In Manchester, he was somewhat neglected.”
