Manchester United may conclude the January transfer window without securing a new striker, although Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting from Bayern Munich is among their potential targets if they decide to pursue a forward, according to information obtained by 90min.
Recent reports from 90min indicate that Erik ten Hag, United’s manager, is interested in adding another goal-scorer to the team. However, the club’s main focus during the winter window is on outgoing transfers, and making significant moves in the market could be challenging, particularly unless Antony Martial leaves the club.
United had previously considered Timo Werner in November but did not formally pursue him. Werner has since joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan from RB Leipzig, but it’s unclear if United missed out on signing him despite their interest.
Sources have disclosed to 90min that Choupo-Moting is being considered by United, whose contract with Bayern Munich ends in the summer. Although Choupo-Moting is seen as a financially viable option for United, there are no concrete developments regarding a potential deal at this point.
Another striker liked by United is Serhou Guirassy, currently with Guinea at the Africa Cup of Nations, but he seems content to remain at Stuttgart until the end of the season despite his release clause.
Looking ahead, United has also internally discussed Jonathan David as a long-term option. David’s contract with Lille expires in 2025, and there’s a possibility that Lille might be compelled to sell him this summer.
