The consequences for Manchester City if found guilty of violating financial regulations have been revealed.

Geoff Shreeves, a former Sky Sports writer, suggests that if Manchester City is found guilty of breaking financial rules, they should face expulsion from the Premier League.

It has been a year since allegations surfaced that City breached 115 financial fair play regulations between 2009 and 2018. The club vehemently denies these accusations.

With Everton losing 10 points, renewed attention is now on City’s case. Everton is awaiting the outcome of their appeal against the penalty, with additional charges also brought against them and Nottingham Forest.

Shreeves argues that if Everton received such a severe punishment, City, if found culpable, should face demotion from the league, potentially dropping multiple tiers. He expressed these views when asked by Lucky Block about Everton and City’s cases, emphasizing the differences between them.

Shreeves believes the legal process for City could extend for at least two years. If City is found guilty, he asserts that the Premier League would likely have no option but to exclude them, citing the precedent set by Everton’s penalty.

Despite the uncertainty, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has stated his commitment to the club, even in the scenario of being relegated to League One, a level they haven’t competed in since the 1998-1999 season.

Many Premier League teams, along with commentator Gary Neville, are urging swift action from the league on City’s case to provide clarity to other clubs.
