Manchester United has reportedly been given the green light by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team to pursue two summer transfer targets.
Towards the end of 2023, it was confirmed that Ratcliffe, the head of INEOS, had acquired a 25 percent stake in the Old Trafford club.
Reports indicate that Ratcliffe and his team will oversee football operations, while the Glazers will focus on the commercial aspect.
Ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, Manchester United, now under INEOS ownership, is reportedly interested in signing Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise and an experienced striker.
The desired qualities for the striker include a track record of scoring double figures in at least three seasons in a top-five league.
While players like Victor Osimhen, Serhou Guirassy, Joshua Zirkzee, and Benjamin Sesko have been linked to the striker position, United aims to avoid a profile similar to Rasmus Hojlund’s.
Despite facing initial challenges, Hojlund is beginning to settle in and demonstrate his form. The team is scheduled to face Luton Town in their upcoming Premier League match on Sunday.
Ratcliffe and his INEOS team have approved the pursuit of two players for the club. According to reports, United is set to target Crystal Palace’s French winger Michael Olise. Additionally, an experienced striker is also on the agenda.
According to the criteria set by Ratcliffe and INEOS, an experienced striker is defined as someone who has consistently scored double figures in at least three seasons in a top-five league. Olise is expected to be a key option for Manchester United once the summer transfer window opens.
In terms of the striker option, Manchester United has been linked with players such as Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
However, it is reported that United is wary of acquiring a striker with a profile similar to Rasmus Hojlund, who arrived last summer in a £72 million deal.
Despite a challenging start in England, Danish international Hojlund is gradually finding his form in front of goal. Prior to Hojlund’s arrival, there were rumors of United’s interest in Harry Kane, who eventually joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur.
Manchester United is preparing for their Premier League fixture against Luton Town this Sunday afternoon.
