The explanation for Bruno Fernandes’ avoidance of a red card during the Manchester United versus Liverpool match has surfaced.
According to reports, Manchester United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, narrowly dodged a red card for a challenge on Dominik Szoboszlai during the FA Cup clash.
Lee Dixon has shed light on why he believes Bruno Fernandes evaded a second yellow card in the Manchester United vs. Liverpool fixture.
Despite receiving a booking earlier in the game, Fernandes escaped another caution for a tackle on Dominik Szoboszlai in the second half.
Dixon, providing co-commentary during the match, acknowledged Fernandes’ stroke of luck in avoiding a yellow card but argued against it meriting a straight red.
He highlighted that such incidents are common on the pitch and while it’s something VAR might scrutinize, it didn’t intervene in this instance.
Dixon further remarked that had a similar tackle occurred elsewhere on the field and Fernandes hadn’t already been booked, he would have undoubtedly received a yellow card.
He stressed his belief that the referee would have issued a caution if such a challenge had taken place on the halfway line.
