Barcelona has reportedly shown interest in acquiring Bayern Munich forward Bryan Zaragoza during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Zaragoza initially joined Bayern on loan from Granada in January 2024, with plans to make the move permanent in the summer. However, he has encountered difficulties adapting to his new environment, making just two appearances totaling 35 minutes of playing time.
Reports suggest that Zaragoza’s struggle is compounded by his limited proficiency in German or English, prompting discussions about a potential departure from Bayern in the summer, with Barcelona emerging as a possible destination.
Previously, Barcelona had expressed interest in Zaragoza during his time at Granada but was unable to meet the asking price, estimated at €15-20 million. Now, they are exploring the option of securing Zaragoza on an initial loan basis, with an option to buy, for a fee not exceeding €20 million, contingent on negotiations with Bayern.
Before his move to Bayern, the 22-year-old enjoyed a successful stint at Granada, making 58 senior appearances and contributing 11 goals and three assists.
Zaragoza isn’t the sole Bayern player on Barcelona’s radar; they have also been linked with Joshua Kimmich, whose contract expires in 2025, fueling speculation of a potential summer departure.
Meanwhile, Barcelona is gearing up to face Las Palmas in La Liga, with manager Xavi confirming that key players Ilkay Gundogan and Robert Lewandowski will not be rested for the upcoming fixture.
Despite their significant playing time, both players are deemed fit and ready to contribute. Xavi lauded Gundogan’s stellar season, highlighting his invaluable contributions on and off the pitch.
Gundogan has been pivotal for Barcelona this season, boasting impressive statistics and serving as a key figure for the team. Similarly, Lewandowski’s impact has been substantial, with his prolific goal-scoring record and extensive experience bolstering Barcelona’s attack.
With the La Liga title race intensifying, Barcelona is determined to maintain their momentum, especially with a crucial UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain looming.
As such, Xavi plans to field his strongest lineup against Las Palmas, with Gundogan and Lewandowski expected to play pivotal roles in Barcelona’s pursuit of silverware this season.
