There have been talks of a remarkable transfer move involving Jack Grealish by one of Manchester City’s competitors in the Premier League.
When Jack Grealish made his £100 million transfer from Aston Villa to City in 2021, it marked the highest-priced signing in Premier League history.
While initially slow to adapt in his debut season, the English talent showcased notable improvement and played a pivotal role in City’s remarkable triple triumph in his second campaign.
However, Grealish’s performance has faltered this season, particularly on the left flank.
Despite being Pep Guardiola’s preferred choice for widening the play to stretch opposing defenses, the 28-year-old’s offensive output has dwindled to just three goals and three assists in 35 appearances this season.
Grealish has previously acknowledged the need to enhance his goal-scoring contributions, but he has struggled to deliver on that front this season.
Despite having three years left on his six-year contract with City, there are rumors linking him to a sensational move to Chelsea.
According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea, despite already spending over £1 billion on players since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over the club in 2022, might pursue a significant financial move.
Phillips mentioned on his Substack page: “Jack Grealish of Manchester City is another winger reportedly being internally considered at Chelsea.
With his limited role at City, there’s industry speculation that the 28-year-old could depart this summer and be open to joining a team where he would have a more prominent role.” Grealish has also been linked with a return to his former club Aston Villa in recent weeks.
“Chelsea and City have a good transfer relationship, with Chelsea previously acquiring Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling from them at reasonable prices.”
In 2022, City paid £45 million to Chelsea for Sterling, and the following summer, they recouped £40 million for academy product Palmer.
