Chelsea is willing to offer £77 million plus two players for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who has been their top target for the summer transfer window. Osimhen’s impressive form has caught the attention of several top European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain. Napoli is seeking the full release clause of £113 million in Osimhen’s contract, which has led Chelsea to consider offering two players plus cash to reduce the asking price.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Chelsea has made an offer that includes money, Romelu Lukaku, who is currently on loan at Roma, and one “unnamed young talent”. The Blues have initiated contact with Napoli and are willing to trade the Nigerian international for the two players plus between €80 and €90 million.
Napoli has not yet responded to Chelsea’s offer, but it is likely that they will wait for Osimhen’s other suitor, PSG, to make a serious bid as well. Osimhen has been reported to “love” Chelsea, having idolized the great African striker Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea is prepared to let go of a few players to complete the deal.
Chelsea’s need for a reliable goal scorer has been highlighted by Nicolas Jackson’s wastefulness in front of goal, and Osimhen’s impressive form has made him a prime target. With his pace, power, and finishing ability, Osimhen would be a great addition to Chelsea’s squad. However, Napoli’s high valuation of the player and the competition from PSG may make the deal challenging to complete.
