By the conclusion of the summer transfer window in 2024, Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva is keen to have clarity about his future.
With two years remaining on his existing contract, Silva has expressed a desire for a new challenge and has been consistently linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.
While Paris Saint-Germain had also shown interest in Silva, he opted to extend his contract with City by an additional year last season.
However, with a £50 million release clause in his current contract that could be activated as soon as this summer, the 29-year-old Silva may finally be ready to seek new opportunities.
Having previously expressed a wish to leave City to be closer to his family, Silva’s potential availability has attracted interest from several top European clubs.
Although City manager Pep Guardiola values Silva highly and would be disappointed to see him leave, he respects the players’ desires to pursue new challenges.
Silva may be swayed to join Barcelona by the presence of his Portuguese teammates Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo, as well as Ilkay Gundogan, who made the switch from City to Barca last summer.
During his seven-year tenure at City, Silva has enjoyed a remarkable career, securing numerous titles including the Champions League, Club World Cup, Super Cup, four League Cups, two FA Cups, and five Premier League championships.
