A journalist claims that Manchester City may sell a “special” player this summer for £50 million. According to Dean Jones, Manchester City will seek around £50 million to part with one of their players.
Manchester City has a history of quickly offloading players, often stirring transfer controversy. However, the club aims to earn a sum reflecting the player’s quality, age, and contract length, similar to other top teams.
Dean Jones noted on the Ranks FC podcast that Man City might consider selling Ederson for £50 million this summer. He said, “The latest rumors indicated a bid of about £25 million. While I doubt City will sell him for that, they may consider it if the offer rises to around £50 million.”
Ederson, labeled “special” by Joleon Lescott in the Daily Mail, has been with the club for seven years and become a legend. Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Ederson was contemplating leaving the Etihad Stadium.
Selling Ederson for £50 million would be reasonable for Manchester City, given he has two years left on his contract.
Having acquired him for a reported £35 million in 2017, City could make a £15 million profit. Despite being 30, Ederson shows no signs of decline and can still perform at a high level for years.
However, the crucial question remains whether Manchester City should sell Ederson, considering he has been a vital part of the team’s core for many years.
