Pep Guardiola has ruled out a move to Manchester United once his contract with Manchester City expires, despite previously expressing interest in managing there.
The Spanish manager, who joined City from Bayern Munich eight years ago, has won numerous titles, including six Premier League crowns, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and a Champions League trophy.
His contract is set to expire at the end of the 2024โ2025 season, and sources indicate he will leave the Etihad at that time.
Before joining City, Guardiola had mentioned that he could see himself managing at Old Trafford. This came after a phone call from Sir Alex Ferguson to discuss the team.
Journalist Marti Perarnau, a personal friend of Guardiola’s, wrote in his book *Pep Confidential* about Guardiola’s appreciation for the environment at Manchester United, stating, “I appreciate this environment. One day I could see myself serving as a coach here.”
Despite being impressed by Bayern’s training facilities, Guardiola had a particular fondness for the setup at Sabener Strasse.
Similarly, he was struck by Old Trafford, where he and his assistant, Manuel Estiarte, watched a match between Manchester United and Schalke on May 4, 2011, following a Champions League semifinal victory against Real Madrid.
Guardiola had made a similar statement about potentially coaching at Manchester United during this visit.
