Pep Guardiola has vowed to keep fighting to end Manchester City’s losing streak, determined to prevent their era of dominance from fading.
City suffered their fourth consecutive defeat against Brighton, marking the first time since 2006 they have faced such a run and the first instance in Guardiola’s career.
Although visibly frustrated at the game’s end, Guardiola turned that frustration into resilience in his post-match comments.
“Everyone loses games at some point,” he stated. “This challenge is ours to overcome, and I won’t back down. I’m more driven than ever, and we’ll keep pushing forward.”
Reflecting on City’s recent losses, Guardiola highlighted their need to regain momentum. “We lost two Premier League games, but we’re still in the Champions League and in a strong position in the standings. I believe we’ll return to our best once players are back.”
Guardiola attributed the Brighton loss to a lack of sustained energy, allowing Brighton to overturn City’s lead.
“I’ll be analyzing this over the next 10 days,” he explained. “We need to be as sharp in the second half as we were in the first, and I know we can play at that level again.”
When asked about whether City’s reign was nearing its end, Guardiola firmly dismissed the idea. “I’ll still be here even if we lose. People may want our dominance to fade, which is natural after so many wins, but we’ll keep fighting. It’s not easy to maintain this intensity every three days, especially with our current challenges, but we’ll keep pushing.”
Guardiola acknowledged the limitations facing the team but emphasized their commitment. “City’s era won’t last forever, but we’ll keep striving.
I see our players’ effort in training and their resolve, and I’m confident we’ll find our rhythm again. Winning is the goal, and we’ll keep adapting and motivating ourselves to stay focused and strong.”
