In addition to Zubimendi, Berta is keen on Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes. During his tenure at Atletico Madrid, Berta attempted to sign Guimaraes on three occasions, reflecting a longstanding admiration. The Brazilian midfielder, currently under contract with Newcastle until 2028, has been pivotal for the Magpies. However, reports suggest a gentleman’s agreement exists, allowing Guimaraes to depart for Β£51 million if Newcastle fails to secure Champions League qualification.
These potential acquisitions align with anticipated departures. Veteran midfielders Thomas Partey and Jorginho are expected to leave upon their contract expirations on June 30. Jorginho is reportedly set to join Flamengo, while Partey has been linked with Barcelona.
