The recent international break has intensified injury concerns for several Premier League clubs, notably Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea.
Arsenal faces significant setbacks. Defender Ben White is sidelined until 2025 following knee surgery. Midfielder Declan Rice and winger Bukayo Saka withdrew from international duties due to fitness issues; Saka, in particular, is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in December, with hopes of returning for the Champions League fixtures against Real Madrid in April. Additionally, defender Riccardo Calafiori suffered a knee injury during Italy’s match against Germany, raising concerns about a potential ACL issue.
Liverpool also grapples with injuries. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker returned early from international duty after a head injury in Brazil’s match against Colombia and is undergoing medical assessment. Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold remains an injury doubt, having yet to resume training after withdrawing from the England squad.
Chelsea confronts challenges as well. Captain Reece James is ruled out of the upcoming fixture against Leicester City due to a fresh injury setback.
These injuries pose strategic challenges for the affected clubs as they navigate the remainder of the season.
