According to football.london, Thomas Partey, an Arsenal player, had a “procedure” following his absence from action due to an injury sustained a few weeks ago.
The midfield player has suffered from injuries in the past few years, missing more than six weeks of action since the start of the 2023–24 season due to two different problems. Due to this most recent setback, he will miss the rest of the year and may not play a significant role again until February 2024 if Ghana participates in the AFCON the following year.
Given that Mohamed Elneny is probably going to play in the tournament, it seems like a priority to get a new midfield player during the winter transfer window. Football.london is aware that the Gunners have been keeping an eye on Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad.
Declan Rice and Jorginho are destined for regular minutes now that Partey is gone for the long term. Other midfield alternatives include Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Emile Smith Rowe, and Fabio Vieira. Both Odegaard and Smith Rowe are currently sidelined due to injuries; the club captain may return this weekend, while Smith Rowe may make a comeback following the November international break.
Injuries are also a problem in other areas; during Wednesday’s Champions League victory over Sevilla, Bukayo Saka and Takehiro Tomiyasu sustained injuries. Following the match, Arteta acknowledged on Saka: “It was just a kick, and I heard from the physios on the radio that he wasn’t happy to continue.” He will thus be uncomfortable, but I’m going to trust that he will be alright.”
The Spaniard went on, “We didn’t want to take any chances since Tomiyasu has played a lot of minutes, and he had some discomfort in the first half. Of course, I believe that was the proper choice, especially with Alex waiting to enter the game.” A minor ankle injury also kept Eddie Nketiah out of the game, although football.london knows he could play Burnley this weekend.
